What Is the Weight Loss Programme?
Our Weight Loss Programme is a clinically supervised service designed to help patients achieve safe, sustainable weight loss through expert clinical support, lifestyle guidance, and, where clinically appropriate, prescription weight loss medications such as Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Mounjaro® (tirzepatide).
Many people find it difficult to lose weight despite trying different diets, exercise plans, and lifestyle changes. Weight gain can be influenced by factors such as appetite, hormones, metabolism, stress, sleep, and underlying health conditions, making long-term weight loss more complex than simply eating less and moving more.
Delivered by experienced healthcare professionals, our programme provides personalised support throughout your journey. Before any treatment is prescribed, all patients complete a consultation and blood test to help us assess their overall health, determine whether treatment is suitable, and ensure the programme is safe and appropriate for their individual needs.
Following your assessment, we create a personalised treatment plan based on your medical history, BMI, weight loss goals, blood test results, and overall clinical assessment.
Why Is Maintaining a Healthy Weight Important?
Maintaining a healthy weight is about more than appearance. Carrying excess weight can affect your energy levels, confidence, mobility, and overall health and wellbeing.
Being overweight or living with obesity may increase the risk of:
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease and stroke
- High cholesterol
- Sleep apnoea
- Joint pain and reduced mobility
- Reduced energy levels and fatigue
The good news is that even modest weight loss can make a meaningful difference. Losing just 5-10% of your body weight may help improve blood pressure, blood sugar control, mobility, energy levels, and overall wellbeing, while reducing the risk of developing weight-related health conditions.
Why Do Many Diets Fail?
Many people lose weight initially but find it difficult to maintain their results over the long term. This is because successful weight loss is about more than willpower alone. Factors such as appetite, hormones, metabolism, stress, lifestyle, and underlying health conditions can all influence body weight and make achieving lasting results more challenging.
Common challenges include:
- Hunger and food cravings
- Difficulty controlling portion sizes
- Emotional eating
- Busy lifestyles and lack of time
- Regaining weight after dieting
This is why many people benefit from a clinically supervised Weight Loss Programme. By combining professional clinical support, lifestyle advice, and, where clinically appropriate, prescription weight loss medications such as Wegovy® or Mounjaro®, patients can build healthier habits, overcome common barriers to weight loss, and achieve more sustainable long-term results.
How Do Weight Loss Medications Work?
For eligible patients, prescription weight loss medications such as Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) may form part of a personalised treatment plan.
These medications work by helping to regulate appetite and can:
- Reduce hunger and food cravings
- Help you feel fuller for longer
- Support portion control
- Encourage healthier eating habits
When combined with healthy lifestyle changes, regular clinical monitoring, and ongoing support from our healthcare team, these medications may help patients achieve safe and sustainable weight loss.
Treatment suitability will be assessed during your consultation, health assessment, and review of your blood test results.

How It Works

FAQs
1. What is Wegovy?
Wegovy is a prescription medication used to support weight loss. It contains semaglutide and works by helping you feel fuller for longer, reducing appetite, and supporting sustainable weight loss when combined with healthy lifestyle changes.
2. What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is a prescription medication containing tirzepatide. It works on two hormone receptors involved in appetite regulation and blood sugar control, helping to reduce hunger, increase feelings of fullness, and support weight loss when combined with healthy lifestyle changes.
3. What is the difference between Wegovy and Mounjaro?
Both medications help with weight loss, but they contain different active ingredients and work slightly differently in the body. During your consultation, our clinical team will discuss which option may be most suitable for you.
4. How much weight can I lose?
Weight loss varies from person to person. Clinical studies have shown that some patients may lose a meaningful percentage of their body weight when treatment is combined with healthy eating, increased physical activity, and ongoing clinical support. Individual results cannot be guaranteed.
5. How quickly will I see results?
Many patients begin to notice changes within the first few weeks, although results vary. Sustainable weight loss is usually achieved over several months.
6. Who is eligible for treatment?
Eligibility depends on factors such as your BMI, medical history, current medications and overall health. A clinical assessment is required before treatment can be prescribed.
7. Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can access our weight management service directly without a GP referral.
8. Can I access treatment online?
Our Weight Loss Programme is primarily delivered through face-to-face consultations to ensure you receive personalised clinical care and ongoing support. In certain circumstances, remote consultations may also be available at the discretion of our clinical team.
9. How often are follow-up appointments?
Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled every month throughout your treatment programme. These reviews allow our clinical team to monitor your progress, discuss any side effects, adjust your treatment where clinically appropriate, and provide ongoing support.
10. Do I need blood tests before starting treatment?
Yes. Before starting treatment, all patients complete a blood test to help us assess their overall health, determine whether treatment is suitable, and ensure it is safe for you.
11. Why are blood tests important?
Blood tests help identify underlying health conditions and provide important information about your overall health. They also help our clinical team recommend the most appropriate treatment and monitor your health throughout the programme.
12. What happens if my blood test results show a health concern?
Our clinical team will discuss your results with you and advise on the most appropriate next steps before treatment begins.
13. How do I start the programme?
Simply book an initial consultation. We will guide you through the assessment process and discuss suitable treatment options.

No. These medications should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to become pregnant. Please discuss family planning with your clinician.

These treatments are generally not recommended while breastfeeding. Your clinician can discuss alternative options with you.
23. Does weight management medication affect contraception?
If you are taking an oral contraceptive pill and start treatment with Mounjaro, or increase your dose, you should use additional barrier contraception, such as condoms, for four weeks. Non-oral contraceptive methods, including the coil (IUD), implant, injection, patch and vaginal ring, are not affected and remain effective. If you have any questions about contraception during treatment, please speak to our clinical team.
24. What happens if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, the advice depends on how long it has been since your scheduled injection. In many cases, the missed dose can still be taken if it is within a few days of your usual injection day. If a longer period has passed, you may need to skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. If you are unsure what to do, please contact our clinical team for advice before taking your next dose.

Weight regain can occur after stopping treatment, particularly if healthy lifestyle habits are not maintained. Our programme focuses on helping you build sustainable habits to support long-term weight management after treatment has ended.
